Financial Empowerment Seminars

The Financial Empowerment Seminar Series is a three-part presentation that is provided free to community residents. The Series is a partnership between the Smith Hill Community Development Corporation and Trinity Mortgage Solutions designed to provide the tools that will empower the people of Smith Hill to build a better community through homeownership and economic development.

Part I Understanding Mortgage and Lending

This session will cover:

the major components of a mortgage

what lenders typically look for

types of mortgages

understanding credit

how to increase credit scores and

how to decreases the chances of being taken advantage of

Part II Financial Planning

This session will cover the financial basics such as:

Defining a stock, bond, mutual fund and other savings accounts

College financial planning

Estate planning

Budgeting

Part III Understanding Real Estate Negotiation and the Legal aspects of Home Ownership

This session will include two professionals, and will cover:

A Real Estate Attorney will explain the legal responsibility of home ownership as well as negotiating and understanding the legal documents included in a home closing.

A trusted Realtor will explain his/her role in the home buying and selling process.
