Farmers’ Market / Neighborhood Day
The successful Farmers’ Market at Davis Park ended for the year on October 25th. It was also a celebration of Neighborhood Day, which featured free recycling bins, neighborhood groups and activities for children.
Davis Park Rehabilitation Project
In March 2009, Smith Hill CDC and our key partners, Elmhurst Clean & Green and the Providence Parks Department, received a grant by KaBOOM! and our corporate partner, MetLife, to install a new playground at Davis Park. More than a grant, the KaBOOM! model also includes a large community role in the design and installation of the playground.
This project kicked off with a Design Day at Capitol Square at Smith Hill on Thursday, May 7th, 2009 where children from the community designed their dream playground. This slideshow features the kids at work as well as a few great designs. Build Day way June 27 and included 350 volunteers! To see all the pictures click here

A Special Night to Celebrate
The People and Places of Smith Hill
On the evening of November 3, 2007, the Smith Hill CDC held our first ever fundraiser where we celebrated our fifteenth year anniversary. Held on premises at the recently completed Capitol Square at Smith Hill development, this event was an opportunity to share our past successes as well as look to the future with critical partners and neighbors. The night featured excellent food, a jazz trio, tours of the residential units and a dedication to the Hassett family for its tremendous work on behalf of the Smith Hill community through the years. Despite the tropical storm conditions with wind gusts up to 50 miles an hour, over one hundred people braved the storm and the CDC raised over $10,000.
