SEASONAL GIVING

Thanksgiving Turkey Drive

Since 2011, the Smith Hill CDC has been providing families in the Smith Hill and Wanskuck sections of Providence, RI with free Thanksgiving turkey dinners. As a result, people look forward to this event every year as it ensures a Thanksgiving meal for those that might not have one.

Each dinner includes:

1 frozen turkey + 1 box of stuffing + 1 box of potatoes + 1 can of gravy + 1 cranberry sauce + 2-4 cans of veggies.

Blessing Bags

Every winter and summer, Smith Hill CDC organizes first-aid packages for individuals in need of resources. These packages are known as “Blessing Bags” and include supplies such as toiletries, snacks, and resource guides. Blessing Bags can be stored in a car, home, workspace, or any convenient location that allows for easy drop-off. Smith Hill CDC staff, board members, and volunteers take part in the tradition of handing them out yearly.

We welcome donated supplies for our blessing bags from the following list:

  1. Showering products

  2. Toothbrushes + toothpaste

  3. Hand sanitizer

  4. Chapstick

  5. Deodorant

  6. Sunscreen

  7. Sanitary products

  8. Condoms

  9. Hats + mittens

  10. Hand warmers

  11. Snacks; granola bars, fruit snacks, water bottles

  12. Dunkin’ Donuts giftcards

Thank you to the ETA Lambda Committee at Providence College, the office of Mayor Jorge Elorza, and Sojourner House for your summer 2019 contributions!
